Obiettivi formativi
Il corso si propone di fornire agli studenti un inquadramento sia filosofico che interdisciplinare della nozione di postumano. Attraverso una serie di lezioni frontali, ma dal carattere fortemente interattivo, gli studenti devono acquisire gli strumenti che permettono loro di interagire criticamente con le discipline che trattano sia la questione del rapporto uomo/animale sia quella del rapporto uomo/tecnica.
The course aims at offering an exposition of the concept of posthuman using the critical tools offered both by philosophy and the social sciences. Thanks to frontal lessons, which will have the character of a seminar as well, students must acquire those critical tools that will enable them to approach both relationship between humanity and animality and the one between humanity and technology.

Alla fine del corso gli studenti devono essere in grado di analizzare in modo critico il discorso sulla natura umana nei suoi rapporti con la tecnologia e nei suoi rapporti con il resto del mondo vivente. La posta in gioco del discorso postumanista, infatti consiste nell'indicare quali nuovi strumenti teorici siano necessari per articolare sia un'etica della tecnica che un'etica delle relazioni interspecifiche.
After the course students will be able to analyse critically the discourse on human nature and its relationship both with technology and the broader ecological context in which the human species is rooted. The main issue of posthumanism consists, in fact, in attempting to shape those theoretical tools that are necessary to articulate both an ethics of technological innovation and an ethics of interspecific relations.

Modalità di insegnamento
Lezioni frontali della durata di 36 ore complessive (6 CFU). Le lezioni avranno un forte carattere seminariale, in quanto prevedranno una costante interazione tra il docente e gli studenti. Tale carattere interattivo ha lo scopo di elicitare progressivamente non solo la capacità di dialogo, ma soprattutto la capacità di elaborare criticamente i contenuti che vengono via via presentati durante il corso.
Lectures (for a total of 36 hours, that is 6 CFU). Each lecture will be structured so a to allow a permanent interaction between the teacher and the students. This interaction aims at both improving students' dialogical competence, and fostering their capability in elaborating critically the contents offered during the course.

Allo studente verranno fatte delle domande in sede di esame al fine di verificare la capacità di collegare tra loro i vari temi presenti nel programma; inoltre verrà verificata la capacità dello studente di collegare i temi presenti nel programma con l'insieme delle conoscenze acquisite dallo studente durante il corso di studi.
During the oral exam students will be tested as regards their capability both in understanding and reproducing the contents of the course, and in connecting the core issues presented during the course with the broader complex of what they have learnt during the course of study.

Titolo del corso: "Filosofie del postumano"
Il corso intende offrire un'introduzione agli studi recenti sulla nozione di postumano a partire da una prospettiva interdisciplinare. Il discorso filosofico rimane centrale ma verranno presi in considerazione anche tutti quegli ambiti disciplinari grazie ai quali è possibile concepire una ridefinizione del rapporto degli umani sia con la materialità, sia con l'animalità. La dicotomia tradizionale tra natura e tecnica verrà messa in discussione nei suoi aspetti sia antropologico che etico-politici. Particolare attenzione verrà data ai recenti sviluppi della biologia evolutiva, la quale costituisce il punto di partenza principale dell'approccio postumanista.
Title of the course: "Philosophies of posthumanism"
The course aims at offering an introduction to the recent debate about posthumanism
from an interdisciplinary perspective. The approach to this subject will be mainly philosophical, but the course means to frame the issue of posthumanism within those disciplines that contributed - or are contributing - to define the relationship both with materiality and animality in a new key. Both the anthropological and the ethical and political significance of the traditional dichotomy between nature and techne will be questioned. Attention will be drawn on the recent developments within evolutionary biology, which constitutes the main framework for any discussion about range and meaning of a theory of the posthuman.
