In line with the overall learning objectives of the MA program in Philosophy and the Philosophy International Curriculum, the course objectives are to present and critically discuss several issues in everyday aesthetics. In particular, the special attention is given to the methodology of everyday aesthetics and the ontology of the everyday.

At the end of the course students will be expected to:
- identify and explain main issues within the contemporary debate over the aesthetic status of everyday objects and activities
- know main philosophical position and research problems in everyday aesthetics
- be able to reconstruct and analyze philosophical arguments
- be able to present their own philosophical views on the topics presented in the course

Every teaching slot (3 hours) will be divided into two parts. The first part will be a lecture accompanied by slides introducing the topic of a given meeting, whereas the second part will be in a seminar-style group discussion with academic papers starting from the reports prepared by students. Student attendance is highly appreciated.

The assessment consists of two parts: (1) examination of students activity, with special attention to (a) the ability to reconstruct philosophical arguments and (b) the ability formulate their own standpoint in a clear way; and (2) writing a seminar paper of 4000 words length (including footnotes but excluding bibliographical references). The paper will be judged based on the following criteria: (c) clarity; (d) coherence; (e) originality; (f) argumentation and (g) structure.

The course is articulated into 36 hours and is divided into two parts. The first part is a detailed introduction into main issues, methods and scopes of everyday aesthetics. The second part provides a discussion on specific areas connected to everyday aesthetics such as social issues, creating of the self, urbanity, food and the like.
