Modalità di insegnamento
L'insegnamento è impartito in 36 ore complessive, pari a 6 crediti. Dopo tre lezioni introduttive, il corso consisterà nella lettura integrale del Menone di Platone, che sarà diviso in quindici parti (una per lezione), ciascuna delle quali sarà assegnata a uno o più volontari; durante ciascuna lezione, gli studenti leggeranno il brano scelto, producendo commenti e interpretazioni autonome ed esponendo e criticando interpretazioni autorevoli. Nel corso delle lezioni introduttive verranno discusse le metodologie di lettura e scrittura di un paper scientifico nell'ambito della filosofia antica, prendendo come modello articoli classici sul Menone.
The course is articulated in 36 teaching hours (equivalent to 6 credits). After three introductory lectures, it will get the form of a seminar and will cover the reading of the dialogue in its entirety. The text will be divided in fifteen sections (one per teaching slot); each section will be the object of the analysis of one or more students, who will read it and produce comments and new interpretations, also taking into account and criticising existent scholarship. The introductory lectures will be devoted to methods of reading and writing of scholarly papers in the field of ancient philosophy; to do this, authoritative papers concerning Plato's Meno will be taken as models.

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento
Agli studenti saranno richiesti impegno nella lettura e nella discussione della sezione di dialogo assegnata e di due testi di letteratura secondaria assegnati, nonché una partecipazione costante al dibattito che i seminari svilupperanno. In aggiunta alla discussione della sezione di testo assegnata, agli studenti sarà richiesto di produrre un breve elaborato (5000 parole) che discuta uno specifico problema legato al Menone e consideri almeno due articoli di letteratura secondaria assegnati dal docente in base al problema considerato. La valutazione in sede di esame orale avrà per oggetto i risultati di queste due attività. Gli studenti non frequentanti sosterranno l'esame orale, con votazione espressa in trentesimi, sui testi indicati, e dovranno inviare un paper di 5000 parole su un tema inerente al corso concordato con il docente.
Students will be required to engage in the reading and discussion of the section they will deal with and two papers indicated by the professor. They should also take part in the debate characterising each teaching slot. Along with the discussion of a part of the Meno, students will be required to write a short essay (5000 words) discussing a specific problem related to the dialogue and taking into account at least two papers concerning this problem. Assessment will depend on the results of these activities. Students who are not able to attend the course will take an oral exam concerning the texts indicated in the section 'Testi consigliati'. Furthermore, they should send a short paper (5000 words) about a topic related to the Meno, which she and the professor will agree on together.

Idee, conoscenza, virtù: il Menone di Platone
Il corso consiste nella lettura integrale del Menone di Platone. Attraverso la lettura e l'analisi di questo dialogo sarà possibile affrontare alcuni dei temi centrali della filosofia di Platone, in particolare in ambito ontologico, epistemologico ed etico.
Forms, Knowledge, and Virtue: Plato's Meno
The course consists in the reading of Plato's Meno in its entirety. Through the reading and analysis of the dialogue, students will be provided with the possibility to deal with crucial themes of Plato's philosophy, especially in terms of ontology, epistemology, and ethics.
